Sony Unveils the PS5 DualSense Controller

We may not know what the PlayStation 5 looks like yet, but Sony just gave us a close look at the PS5’s DualSense controller, and it’s striking. At first glance, it looks like a cross between a PS4 and Xbox One controller, but there’s more than meets the eye here. The light bar shifts to the touchpad area, the controller now uses haptic feedback instead of rumble tech, and the triggers feature variable tension.

Right away, the PS5 DualSense controller looks different than any Playstation controller that came before it. The controller features a striking white and black motif that leads into new light bars that surround the touchpad.

You’ll notice the share button seems to be missing, but it’s still there in the form of a newly named “Create” button. The triggers are now adaptive so they can work differently depending on the game and function. Theoretically, pulling on a bowstring should feel different than using a heavy attack in a fighting game.

Other nice additions are USB-C charging and a built-in microphone array for voice chat. No word on pricing for individual controllers yet, but we’ll let you know when we learn more.
